May 18 Monday

Good morning! How was your weekend? Mine was wonderful! Family, sunshine, a breeze, and barbecue! What more could I ask for?

It is so wonderful to be able to watch Mass with our priests from St. Joseph Church. Did you see Father Anthony, what he said and did that reminds us of The Last Supper? Did you notice what color he was wearing? What Liturgical Season are we still in?

Please send me an email by 10:00AM so I can take and submit attendance.

This Thursday we remember Jesus ascending to Heaven.
Let’s practice a song for that Mass: Rise Up With Him

Please say an Our Father and a Hail Mary.

If you have any special intentions please finish with the Glory Be to the Father. (You may want to pray for your friends.)

Today is MATH FACT MONDAY!! Today practice subtraction facts!!!
*Practice flash cards with someone or go to:
user name: SadlierStudent
password: ReadytoLearn!

1- Find our book ‘Progress in Math’ (match the picture, it is far down the list)
2- go to chapter 2
3- look for fluency flash cards under Games & Study Aids
4- if you click on the twisted arrows on the green bar, it mixes up the flash cards, if you click on the arrows between the < > it shows your child the answer
5- practice for 10 minutes (you can do this anytime you would like your child to practice their flash cards)

PHONICS
*page 253 box #3 Spell It
*say a word then have your child write it on a paper or in their Phonics Notebook.

(You don’t have to do all the words on the list; you can ask your child 5 words and they can ask you 5 words.)

Have them check your work to make sure you spelled them correctly. They may need help with the long i spellings. They can ask you ‘Which long i spelling?’ You can ask them what they think before they write it, this way they don’t get frustrated fixing written mistakes.

I would try these words:
(night, my, right, cry, light, try, bright, dry, fly, why)

Page 263 Build Fluency

Oral Segmentation
*say these words to your child, ask them to segment (break apart) each word sound-by-sound

You say: my             Your child says: /m/ /ī/

(mine, dry, drive, light, flight, shy, shine, by, bite, bright)

This activity will help your child to think about how words are segmented (broken up) and it will help them when they try to spell a word)
