Good morning!! How was your weekend? I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day!!

Let’s begin our day with prayer.

Please say an Our Father and a Hail Mary. If you have any special intentions please finish with the Glory Be to the Father. (You may want to pray for anyone sick and in the hospital.)

*review compound words - Write the word cupcake, ask ‘What kind of word is this?’ Discuss that a compound word is two smaller words put together to make a new word, draw a line under cup and cake

*read the words in the two yellow boxes

*choose a word from each box to make a compound word
        (any order: home + made; some + one; sun + shine)

*write a sentence for each new compound word

They can count back in their heads, count back on a number line or 100s chart, or subtract as they have been doing. Whichever strategy works best for your child is the one they should use.

Stress to your child that because we are subtracting they need to count backwards.)
